What is the problem?
One problem that occur as a recurring pattern is that you always need to renew your ticket when travelling by metro in Stockholm. The social democrat’s party (S) states in this article that they want to add the possibility to subscribe to SL’s service(*1). So instead of buying a limited ticket and have to worry when the ticket on the card expires, you will simply renew the ticket automatically.

Why this solution?
This idea is very convenient for a number of different  reasons. Firstly it saves time by completely eliminate the times you have to renew the ticket, and secondly you also never have to worry about an expired ticket when on the rush.

During the interviews we observed a pattern that daily commuters do buy monthly tickets and have to track when the ticket expires. A task that can lead to frustration and an unpleasant travel. To give users this alternative way of paying for the service you certainly will make paying for the travel more convenient.

How should it work, and how/where is it already working?
An example of how this service could work: The user would have the option to connect an access-card to a certain credit card and will be debited repeatedly for the type of ticket subscription the user signed up for. For example the user might sign up for a 90-day travelling ticket, and would therefore be debited once every 90 day and never have to worry about an expired ticket again.

In Netherlands this type of subscription service is already offered to the user and is working like described above(*2). As a user you sign up for a ticket subscription and is debited accordingly.
