Scenario 3: Johannes Östberg

The SL Access Card is an integrated circuit card (ICC) where you can download seasonal tickets, single tickets and money to pay for your travels before you travel. This post will present a futuristic scenario better suited for subsequent payment.

The purpose of this scenario is to demonstrate a believable flow of events resulting in Johannes Östberg achieving his goals. In the process, I wish to create an informal narrative description that allows for exploration and discussion of different contexts, needs and requirements.

Scenario: A late call in from work.

Goal: To purchase a Surface Pro.

It is Wednesday morning and Johannes, currently making his way through a busy T-Centralen, is in a hurry. This morning, having gotten a late call in from work, has left him with a tie in one hand, and an unzipped briefcase in the other, an unusual sight for the people who know the otherwise strict and well-organized, but smiling man. Having previously been a frequent user of the subway system, Johannes was well accustomed to the hectic turmoil of an early morning and made his way through the crowd with ease. It was mornings like these that made him greatly appreciative of the updated subway payment system. Seriously flawed, it had left him with nothing but a wallet on a diet and a bad attitude. Walking past Pressbyrån, the remembrance of baked beans made him shudder, the previous staple of the Östberg residence. But those were the days of the past and to this day baked beans never made their way past his threshold.

Making his way through the turnstile, adding yet another journey to his awaiting transactions, Johannes increased his pace towards the subway destined for Vällingby. Once seated, he happily opened his briefcase and pulled out his worn out Surface Pro — having to predict the future was no more.
